As we’re such a fun-loving bunch with an abundance of unworn posh attire (and in great need of cutting loose for an evening) we decided to host an "inappropriately dressed” themed night out.
The Theme
The idea was to get really dressed up (dinner jackets and ball gowns) and make a spectacle of ourselves by being overdressed around various drinking holes in the city centre.
So with shoes polished, suits and dresses dry cleaned and charity shops raided (some of our developers had to invest in a suit especially) the bell tolled 5pm on Friday and we all donned our finery.
The ladies made a concerted effort with hair and make-up, but, unfortunately the weather wasn’t feeling kind, and as we ventured out of the office the heavens opened and it began to pour down.
Some emergency hairgrips later, and with spirits undampened, the drinking, eating and merriment commenced in our favourite haunt The Rutland Arms.
Henry's
After causing quite a stir in the aforementioned pub, where even Andy the landlord joined in the fun, we continued our theme of “establishments selling more traditional forms of alcohol” and moved on to Henrys.
Everyone was still bearing up reasonably well at this point, thanks to stomachs being deliberately lined earlier on in the evening.
Rocked The Casbah
Then as a wonderfully impromptu homage to our more youthful years, the next and final stop was the Casbah. Here, besides the obligatory banter, (including certain male staff members receiving a ‘makeover’) the night ended with dancing and celebratory shots.
The merry Technophobes then disbanded to various takeaways before heading home for some much-needed beauty sleep.
