Capita have only gone and bought us ...

I'm pretty well known inside our four walls for my positive attitude, some might even say blind optimism, (of course I’d cry if anyone actually said that to my face) so it will probably come as no surprise to those who know me that I feel excited by the potential that this deal offers Technophobia. However allow me to offer some context to my optimism.

There always comes a time when the level of expectancy a business has surrounding its true potential cannot be matched by the level of investment it has at its disposal. Technophobia reached this point and in a marketplace where only the most ambitious survive both the shareholders and the senior management team realised that giving our beloved company wings was the right thing to do.

The potential for growth that being a part of Capita offers Technophobia is pretty substantial that's for sure; growth into new markets, growing new skills, investment in areas that would have been unachievable before… the list goes on. More importantly though, the chance for all of us to work on a bigger and more diverse selection of projects, and not just Capita ones.

Not at any single point during the negotiations have we had to express demands on maintaining our independence as a company who design and build amazing stuff for the web while keeping a really unique agency culture. A culture that has allowed us to build some very productive client relationships in both the private sector and the public sector, not to mention build some very cool stuff for our clients. Capita have expressly told us that they are buying us because we are good at what we do and have no intention of breaking that. It is our distinctive identity that makes us such a strategically critical purchase.

If this culture weren't in place then I doubt that I would still be with the company after two years having come from a very 'un-company' environment before. I know I can speak for everyone involved in this acquisition when I say we would not be where we are now if we had any concerns regarding the protection of the bits that make our company tick; what we do, how we go about doing it and the environment in which we do it.

Of course things are bound to change over time however we will be operating as an independent unit. We will be masters of our own destiny with one big advantage, we will have unrivalled potential to grow and do even more of the things that we like to do. A forward thinking agency with a load of very good people with the power of a Plc behind it, truth be told this sounds pretty exciting to me.

Our future is going to be challenging but isn't all business in different ways? I believe however that we have found a good home and it's now up to us to live up to our potential.
