Do something funny for money...

04/03/2011

On Friday 18th March we will be celebrating Red Nose Day 2011 with a wide variety of exciting activities throughout the day to raise a bucket of cash for Comic Relief:

Duvet Day

The official Technophobia theme will be ‘Duvet Day!’. We will be rocking up to work on Red Nose Day in pyjamas complete with slippers (and possibly a teddy) and spend the day working in our cosiest clothes in the spirit of Comic Relief. Each member of staff will be donating £1 for the privilege.

Bun-a-thon

Throughout the day, various activities will take place including an eating contest and a Bun-a-thon! Our talented Technophobia cake bakers will be showing off their best buns in aid of Comic Relief. These will be on sale throughout the day for our Technophobes to graze on – we’re doing it for the kids!

Flash Mob Silent Disco

As much as we love the warmth of our office (and keeping our gold fish company) we have decided  this year we will take our fund raising efforts to the streets of Sheffield and play host to Sheffield’s first Flash Mob Silent Disco. And we are inviting you, your friends and your colleagues to join us! From 1pm – 1.15pm on Friday 18th March, Technophobia will leave The Workstation and cross the road to the lovely big patch of concrete between The Hubs (Hallam Union) and Spearmint Rhino (...Gentlemen’s club?) ready for our silent party. Dig out your iPod, don your headphones, pick a tune and have your very own private rave... in the company of a massive bunch of other people! We’re spreading the word on Facebook and Twitter (via @WeTechnophobia) using the #SheffieldFlashMob hash tag to get people excited and taking part.  As if that wasn’t enough, we are planning to record the footage – we never miss an opportunity to make a fool of ourselves on video!

Sponsored Abstinence

Members of staff will nominate and sponsor each other to extinguish certain ‘lovable’ traits such as a sponsored silence, a swear jar and a ‘no clicking fingers’ policy! A price tag is added to each activity and if the money is raised the task will be carried out for the day.

Technophobia’s Got Talent

The grand finale of our Comic Relief day is Technophobia’s Got Talent! Every day our talented team blow our minds with their abilities, passion for technology and all things geek. To draw out the talents from behind their monitors we are giving them a platform to show us the talents that we might not be aware of! Whether it’s downing a pint in 3 seconds or tap dancing Michael Flatley style, our team are set to impress!
