On a night fraught by controversies, questionable refereeing performances and a good old fashioned penalty shoot out heart break, FC Technophobia march on to the finals of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce 5-a-side tournament.
Losing only two games in the group stages, both at the hands of the home team “Sheffield Power League”. FC Technophobia, under the stewardship of player manager, Tim “Special One” Brazier, finished as runners up, taking maximum points against “Universal Recycling” and dishing out drubbings to our local rivals “Zoo Digital’’.
Finishing second in the group led to a semi final playoff defeat which went to penalties after a hard fraught draw. Despite an early save from Martin “Paddy Kenny” Smith, Richard “Gareth Southgate” Jones was forced to take his penalty three times, having being adjudged to have taken more than one step, hitting the bar with his final attempt.
A strict dietary and a training regime is being implemented in preparation for the final on the 4th November.
