Like all good ideas, this one started out as a conversation over a pint on a Friday night. Whilst chatting to Andy (@RutlandArms) and Rich (@BlueBeeBrewery) the subject moved onto Movember, when for the month of November menfolk donate their upper lip to raise money for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer. Technophobia has been involved in Movember for the last two years, raising £3,599 in 2010. A true eureka moment occurred; brew a Movember themed Beer with money from each pint sold donated to the Movember charity - Techmophobeer was born. The opportunity to spend a day in the brewery was also very appealing.
The date was set and a group of volunteers went down to Blue Bee Brewery, a small independent brewery based on the outskirts of Sheffield City Centre, one Saturday morning to play at being brewers for the day. I think the phrase "child in a sweet shop" best sums up what happened next…
After a short tour of the unit we were handed an empty pint glass and pointed in the direction of the cellar. Well it would be rude to refuse, and brewing beer is thirsty work. We were quickly put to work pouring grain, weighing hops and moving kegs, and thoroughly enjoying every minute of it. We can proudly say that we have personally had a hand in the making of Techmophobeer, under the expert guidance of Richard Hough, the Head Brewer. Photos of our adventure can be seen on Flickr.
All signs point to Techmophobeer being a tasty chocolaty 5% porter, capable of putting a moustache on the upper lip of anyone who should drink it. Also, Techmophobeer will enter ‘Battle of the Beers’ in the Chesterfield’s CAMRA Beer Festival.
Available from Movember 1st at The Rutland Arms and selected Real Ale pubs around Sheffield. While stocks last. Let us know what you think on Twitter @wetechnophobia and #techmophobeer
Our Movember site will be going up shortly where you can check progress of Technophobia Mo Bros.
Any donations to Movember will be very gratefully received.

We'd love to try your Techmophobeer, do you plan to make this available in Canada? If not we'll just stick to Guinness. Good luck with the Movember movement!
