Technophobia is delighted to announce that as part of a new initiative which sees us working in conjunction with the Competition Commission, we have been appointed as the accredited operator of a new independent price comparison website for the Home Credit Industry.

Simon Withers of procurement specialists Hedra said: 'Technophobia were the unanimous choice of the evaluation panel, who looked not just at the standard criteria of price and technical capability but also for an innovative approach and a real understanding of the objectives of this project and the needs of home credit customers'.

Lenderscompared.org.uk, due for launch in summer 2008, will provide information on the price of home credit loans and products from other providers, including credit unions. Visitors will be able to search for loans available in their own area, making it easier to shop around and compare offers from different lenders. This pioneering venture will form part of a solution designed by the Competition Commission to open up the market to greater competition, bringing lower prices and more choice to consumers.

Pip Thorne, Managing Director of Technophobia, commented: ‘We are thrilled to be taking on this project and our own ethical policy is closely aligned to the principles of the offering. Over the years we have seen the internet evolve as a medium and this is further evidence of the shifting of power to the consumer. Although we will be an independent website operator, Technophobia has a very strong pedigree within the financial sector and our experience will stand us in great stead in offering the service.’

The site will be free to use and will be funded by, but independent of, the Home Credit Industry. For more information on the Home Credit Market Investigation please see the Competition Commission's website.
