Technophobia supports launch of a new technology charter to help schools join the digital revolution

23/01/2009

Every school in the country is being given the opportunity to make public their commitment to ICT, thanks to a new initiative by Becta, the government's agency for technology in education. Schools who sign up to the Next Generation Learning Charter will be taking the first step towards recognition for strategic and effective use of technology across their school.

We worked alongside Becta to extend the existing online self-review framework previously redeveloped by ourselves. The online framework facilitates automated sign-up to the Next Generation Learning Charter by schools, at which point the school is issued with a certificate, stating the school’s commitment to use the self-review framework over the next three years. The system also notifies a school and issues a recognition certificate when they have made progress, and achieved national standards in the framework.

Further levels of accreditation and excellence are also achievable.

The project was scoped and delivered on budget and within 8 weeks to ensure it was available for launch at the BETT (British Education and Training Technology) Show 2009.

‘’I appreciate you have worked very hard to make this happen ... you have launched in time for BETT, with the important speeches tomorrow, and the 30 000 people who will visit the show over the next four days, this is an achievement to be proud of. I am convinced this will get even more schools engaged and more making progress so the children will get a better education in the future. Thanks and well done.’’ John Taylor, Head of Institutional Improvement - Becta
