Green Flag

The Background

Technophobia has been Green Flag Motoring Assistance’s preferred Internet development agency since we relaunched their website in 2002. During this time we have made significant enhancements to Green Flag’s website and their e-strategy to help secure their competitive advantage against key rivals the RAC and AA. We also provide Internet and complex software development services to other Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) businesses (Green Flag’s parent company).

The Challenge

In 2007 the site was redesigned again to support updated technology and reinforce the key integrated message of “Waiting. Boring. - Rapid breakdown cover” as communicated across all Green Flag’s marketing channels.

The Response

Technophobia worked closely with the client’s graphic design team to create the online interpretation of Green Flag’s offline brand. The online experience offers a wealth of functionality, including features such as route planning, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, motoring and safety advice, and buyer guides which are carefully structured within the site so not distract from the core proposition.

To maximise availability and to ensure Green Flag’s extremely high SLA requirements are exceeded, the site diverse solution is configured to be fault tolerant and equipped with manual fail-over capabilities. The solution has undergone a full external security audit by security specialists Vanguard Technologies IE.

The Result

The Green Flag site was scoped and launched in 3 weeks, and forms the backbone of Green Flag’s marketing activity. It allows greenflag.com to extend its online presence from an ecommerce website for the recruitment of members to encompass brand and customer relationship building.

The site continues to impress, and has won the Your Money Award for “Best Online Breakdown Cover Provider” for four years in a row.

We are responsible for the ongoing website support and maintenance.
